Huge
congratulations to our runners Ben, Melody, Lesley, George, Tony, Hayden,
Sarah, Dave and Khoo who completed the Bristol 10k on Sunday. A
cross-departmental group of all ages and abilities pulled together to raise
funds for our chosen local charity Ronald McDonald House.
Hayden from
our claims unit triumphed over the finish line in a respectable time of 48 minutes
36 seconds. When he signed up for the race Hayden explained ‘I used to enjoy
cross country running as a kid. Due to a knee injury I haven’t ran in 15 years.
This is my come back’.Ben from BTE sales, a novice runner, took up the challenge to support our charity. He jokingly said three weeks ago ‘I ask myself every day, why did I commit to this?’ He is now gripped by the running bug and ready to sign up for the Bristol half marathon on Sunday 13 September.
Melody, from Product Development, is on Ben’s heels for the next race as she finished a mere 12 seconds behind him. This is a perfect opportunity for a sweep stake to add further funds for our charity.
Jenny, Events Co-ordinator for Ronald McDonald House said ‘It’s fantastic ARAG have chosen to support RMHB – we are an independent charity, so we rely heavily on our fundraisers to meet the £263,000 needed each year to keep our doors open. The Bristol 10k has been a brilliant success this year, with around 50 runners, it’s the largest Team RMHB we have ever been! ARAG’s team of 10 runners has contributed heavily to this success, raising over £1,100 so far – a phenomenal amount to raise from a single event!’
Thank you to all our supporters, we have now surpassed our target raising £1,322. Any contribution, even a few pounds, is gratefully received. It’s not too late to give http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/ARAG10K
